Exmouth's Blue Plaque Heritage Trail - Including the Swallows B&B!
Exmouth's Blue Plaque Heritage Trail - Including the Swallows B&B!
There are some 33 historic blue plaques in Exmouth, explaining the rich and diverse heritage of the town and in August 2017, The Swallows B&B became host to the 34th. The plaque commemorating Edith Pratt OBE, who received the honour during World War One, is located at the previous location of Southlands School, now the Swallows B&B. Edith’s plaque was unveiled exactly 100 years to the day after news of her OBE, for service as a member of the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps, was listed in The Times. To help you locate the plaques, you can pick up a leaflet/map at Exmouth Tourist Information Service on The Strand.
